Attorney Lester Rosen, Founder and CEO of San Francisco Bay area background check firm Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), will discuss ‘Reducing The Insider Risk: Strategies For Background Checks After Hiring’ at an ASIS Golden Gate Chapter meeting held at Skywalker Ranch on Lucas Valley Road in Marin County, California on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 11:30 AM PST. More information about the ASIS Golden Gate Chapter meeting is available at http://www.asisgoldengate.org/page1/page1.html.

“Due diligence does not stop once an applicant is hired,” explains Rosen, author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual’ and a frequent presenter nationwide on issues involving due diligence as part of the ‘ESR Speaks’ training program. “An organization may have procedures for pre-employment background checks, but what duties and tools do employers have after someone is hired and on the job?”

In the session, attendees will learn from Rosen, a noted background check expert, how to reduce insider threats and deal with post-hire background screening issues that can occur after employment including:

  • Embezzlement or theft of trade secrets if an employee’s personal financial situation changes.
  • Embarrassing revelations that an executive falsified his or her resume.
  • Previously unknown criminal conviction coming to light or an employee commits a new crime.
  • How to perform background checks on new workers acquired during an acquisition or merger.

Rosen founded Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), a nationwide background screening company accredited by the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS®), in 1997. He is an experienced criminal trial attorney, a licensed private investigator, and has testified in court as an expert witness. He served as chairperson of the steering committee that founded NAPBS and served as its first co-chair. He was also a member of the committee that drafted ASIS background screening guidelines.
