Attorney and background check expert Lester Rosen, Founder and CEO of Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), will present a session titled ‘Reducing The Insider Risk: Strategies For Background Checks After Hiring’ at the ASIS International 59th Annual Seminar and Exhibits on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. For more information about ASIS 2013 – which takes place from September 24 to 27, 2013 – visit http://www.securityexpo.org/.
Since due diligence does not stop once an applicant is hired, participants in the 60 minute educational session will learn how to use post-hire background screening to reduce insider threats and to deal with situations that can occur after employment. While many organizations already have procedures for pre-employment background checks, the session will examine what duties and tools employers have after someone is hired and on the job. In this session, Rosen will explain how to avoid post-hire issues such as:
- Embezzlement.
- Theft of trade secrets.
- Embarrassing revelations that an executive falsified his or her resume.
- Previously unknown criminal conviction coming to light or an employee committing a new crime.
- A business acquiring a new workforce during an acquisition or merger and needing to perform background checks on the new workers.
Rosen is the author of a comprehensive guide to background checks titled ‘The Safe Hiring Manual’ and is a frequent presenter nationwide on background check issues as part of the ‘ESR Speaks’ program. He is an experienced criminal trial attorney, a licensed private investigator, and has testified in court as an expert witness. He was also a member of the ASIS committee that drafted background screening guidelines. To learn more about future speaking events featuring Rosen, visit http://www.esrcheck.com/ESR_Speaks.php.
